Previous Post – To Love With Money

  • My friend JR Woodward, who I discovered via the Ecclesia Network, is getting published by IVPress (they have good taste in authors!).  Check out an advanced look at his book cover (above) & read a brief synopsis.  I can hardly wait to read it!
  • One of the fun things about getting published is that I occasionally get asked to read & endorse new books.  One such invitation came for the forthcoming book “Thin Places: Six Postures for Creating and Practicing Missional Community” by Jon Huckins & Rob Yackley.  I’m only 3 chapters in and already think it’s a winner.
  • Kurt Willems gets a very interesting and helpful discussion on the Apostles Creed (and creeds in general).  Worth read the post and the comments that follow.
  • The Mustard Seed Associates ran an article I wrote about Little Flowers Community.  Check it out, make some comments & ask some questions.  (Keep your eyes open for part 2, a look at our Chiara House project).
  • Scot McKnight explores John Howard Yoder’s take on the death penalty.  For more, check out the newly released book by Yoder (pulled together by others), “The End of Sacrifice”.
  • Speaking of the death penalty, my friend Matt Puckett is on death row for a crime we believe he did not commit.  His case is fraught with problems and he should never have been convicted.  The Mississippi Supreme Court has set his date of execution for March 20th.  There are still a few things we can do: First, sign & share this petition;  Second, please take the time to write Mississippi governor and plead for his life.

Previous Post – My Garden – Ed’s Story

The image above is from Paul Soupiset’s vision journal through Lent.  Beautiful and well worth a daily follow.

Kurt Willems shares a great video, “Rethinking ‘Green Pastures’” of Psalm 23 fame.  I love the insight context brings to Scripture.

My fantastic Franciscan friar friend (wink) Dan Horan, OFM offers us some insight into St. Francis of Assisi beyond the “proto-hippie” stereotype.  In this post we see that Francis was also a bold and prophetic voice for change.  I also received a copy of his new book in the mail, which I had the privilege to endorse: “Dating God: Live and Love in the Way of St. Francis”.

Rachel Held Evans has become a huge favorite of mine over the last year.  While you would be hard pressed to find a blog post not worth reading, among the top of my list are those in her “Ask A…” Series.  She has cover all manner of topics, including: Ask A Gay Christian, Ask A Mennonite, Ask A Orthodox Jew and many more.

As always, Scot McKnight is a constant source of copious and quality content.  Recently I enjoyed his reflections of Resurrection Spirituality.

When it comes to poverty issues, especially as it relates to mental health, I am very passionate.  That is why I always appreciate the insight that Jordon Cooper brings.  He is also amazing at finding and sharing great articles and other resources, such as this piece on mental health & poverty.

My friend Chris Lenshyn has returned to blogging with a new series on Lent.  He will be blogging through the next 40 Days.  In addition to the introduction, the first two posts have been great: Day One – Why? and  Day Two – What To Do With A Good Idea? Check them out.

My final link, sadly, is about a blogger whose stuff I love that will be going silent for 6 months: David Fitch.  While I am excited for him to work on his first popular title, I will miss his thought provoking posts.  I still think he should get a few people to fill the the silence in his absence, but I’ll be awaiting his return nonetheless.

Have a great weekend!
