Thanks to the work of Medri Kinnon Productions, from my friends Imbi & Bill Kinnon, we are brought this excellent and compelling conversation between David Fitch (Northern Seminary) and Gary Nelson (Tyndale University College and Seminary) about the word “missional” and all that it means. This is well worth your time to watch:
Nelson/Fitch – Missional – Does the word still have value? from Bill Kinnon on Vimeo.
What do you think? Is the word “missional” worth fighting for? How & why (or why not)? Let me know.

Good interchange between these two. I tend to think more along the lines of Nelson. I think I would place more importance on the focus of the group than on the word they choose to define themselves. Words change their meaning too often and I don’t think we should get overly hung up on the words we describe ourselves by. Arguing about the meaning of words and claiming them as descriptors of our group is futile unless we are out there in the real world all around us living and acting as Christ followers spreading the good news.
Hey Linea,
I agree, though do feel it is worth trying to defend the word, especially from the impact of marketing, etc. However, the underlying concepts are more important.
Peace,
jamie
